How about you?
Any guesses as to what it is?
It is an antique French umbrella stand!
The larger holes on the perimeter are for umbrellas and the smaller holes toward the center are for canes.
It would be amazing in a grand home with a large formal entry or in a charming hotel or restaurant with lots of patrons coming and going.
It would also be wonderful for a cane collector!
I saw it at an estate sale over the weekend and wished I could bring it home with me...
I hope it found the perfect home where it can be fully appreciated!

What a great piece! You should have taken it home. Most of the French stands I've seen are metal. I hope you are well, Terri. And enjoying summer break.

Love it, you always find the best treasures and they always seem to have a story or they are something I have never seen before. Love it,
happy Monday,

It is a great piece. Too bad it didn't follow you home.
you can't take it all home, sad, huh? LOL - so interesting! I've never seen one like this before.
Great piece Terri, I almost guessed a pipe rack since some look similar. Pretty piece.

Hello Terri
You always find the most beautiful pieces. I love it. I think, like Loi, you should have bought it.

I have a heavy brass antique umbrella stand that I carried home on the metro with me when we lived in Paris. It's by the back door now...but we still use it for umbrellas.
It's quite gorgeous! I have seen a few of them over the years in various antique stores here in Australia...which makes me curious as to why they are around here more than where you are...
Would look fabulous in a lot of settings.
Terri it is so great that you come upon such unique pieces! I had not seen one before!

Hi Terri,
This is a beautiful stand and very unique. I like the blue patina at the base.. very pretty!
I was going to say a cane stand....Love this! But then I would have to start collecting canes, right? Now if I HAD a cane collection, I'd have taken this home too!
