An Auspicious Occasion

This year Easter Sunday happens to fall on March 31, 2013 which happens to be my husband's 53rd birthday or what I'm calling, an auspicious occasion!

With all those 3's lining up and then landing on Easter, I thought it only fitting to find him a whopper of a birthday present!

So, that's just what I did!

Meet Bob...

We met on craigslist...

At 9 1/2 feet it was hard to keep him a secret, so I gave it to my hubby early.

Boy was he surprised...

He adores Bob and set about hanging him in his mancave immediately.

I have to admit, I love Bob too!

Oh, and Marty the Bass loves the company.

So, what do you think of our newest family member?

Terri,
My husband's birthday is March 31 also! You are way ahead of me on the present search. Funny 2 of my friends have husbands with the same birthday as well! Must be a great day. What a man cave! He's a lucky guy. Hope he has a happy birthday and enjoys the fish!

My husband had one of those when we were dating. It had been caught by his grandpa. At the time I had no appreciation for it. Now that we have been married for 32 years and have filled our home with all sorts of nautical and other related collectibles, we have both wanted one. If only we still had the "real" one from his college apartment. They are hard to come by now and pricey. Both of our 53rd birthday have gone but perhaps he will get a sailfish for his 57th birthday. I think they are beautiful!

The fish is too big for the space. Either take the t.v. and put it in a different place or take the fish and put it on a wall that is the right scale for its size. The fish and t.v. are too cramped. Besides I don't get the whole "hanging dead animals on the wall thing".

You know what I would do after studying your yard in these pictures, is to put the stones where the lawn is. Because your lawn is S shaped it will appear like a foot path. Then I would take your plants in pots and place them on the stone. That look is really good. I am seeing Cypress here and there along the fence and different kind's of ferns and oak leaf hydrangea. You have a great yard to work with. I think the fence needs some contrast with more plants! Call me if you need help moving things! There are some great out-door plant shops in Sunol that sell really good topiary Camilla tree's! I think with bigger plants your yard can become a secret garden! And love the stones. I bought some and tried it where I live. They pour nicely right on-top of brick.
