One of a kind!
Those of you who follow my blog are well aware of my love of shells and "God's art."
While shopping ebay recently I came across this very unusual shell piece that I believe was made as a souvenir at the turn of the century in France.
It both delighted and fascinated me.
I had to make it mine!
I wish they made souvenirs like this today...
I love the imagination that went into creating this piece of fanciful shell art.
The curled and twisted wires terminating into tiny pieces of shells handpainted to look like flowers and leaves just does it for me.
Leave it to the French!
They make everything special!
No wonder we are obsessed with everything French!
Nothing is too small or insignificant for their stylish take on things.
I am completely and utterly smitten with this special shell.
I move it from room to room, wherever I am, so I can admire it.
Just looking at it and thinking about its journey to me makes me happy.
When I leave the house, I put it here on my fireplace so it is the first thing I see when I walk in the door.
Is it crazy to love something so much?

Agreed. I have gnarled tree limb parts and chunks of lichen and bowls of nuts and rocks and moss, that have all been picked up in my yard, or out and about. They are on mantels and in bowls and on coffee tables, and I love them as much as anything in my home. k
Hello Terri
A beautiful and unusual piece. I would give it a place of honour too.

No, it's not crazy! I do this all the time with special objects. Couldn't help noticing the pedestal bowls you have Amaryllis in. Please tell us about those fabulous items.
Hi Summer,
They are lotus bowls.
I have 3 of them. I think they are called Blanc de Chine like the Asian figurines.
Thanks for noticing:)
I find them so intriguing...
