Home for the Holidays!

Guess who's back?

Nothing makes me happier than the sight of this messy room!

I have always said that seeing his face every morning was like Christmas!

 Now I know that's true!

Christmas has officially arrived at our house!

 This is one happy mom!

I can't believe he is already a junior in college!

And I thought High School went fast!

I used to go all out decorating his room at Christmas with a tree and everything.

He still insists that I've turned his room into a "guest room" but I insist that I upgraded it to a more sophisticated bedroom paying homage to a future of world travel.

I couldn't help adding a touch of Christmas to it this year.

I found a trio of these vintage wooden reindeer at a garage sale a few years ago and thought one might be fun over his bed.

I filled a vintage fire bucket with Christmas greens and amaryllis.

And placed a pair of vintage red ski poles topped with a glittery snow flake against the wall.

I love seeing his clothes strewn about!

I found this wonderful vintage bamboo trunk a few months ago which is perfect for holding his suitcase.

I purchased this ornament from Wendy Addison to commemorate his 1st Christmas as a Bruin.

I love ornaments that mark a milestone.

He's a good sport letting me fill his room with my treasures.

He knows how happy it makes me!

 My heart is full!!

Enjoy having your kids home for the holidays!!

Hi Terri

How wonderful to have your son home for Christmas. He is, without doubt, the most valuable treasure in that guest room, I mean his room - ha ha

Happiest Christmas

Awwwww ! Chris I am sure is over joyed with his mom's effort in making over his room:)
Hannah cringes if I move or add to it she wants the last word in what goes into her room and where it is placed ( a girl thing)
Love all your touches, and Andie has been following me and I her for a couple of years now, and her treasured finds drive me crazy you can see why, she finds the best things, much like you my friend she is a real big Craigslist fan and I cannot believe she has filled her home from shopping Craigslist can you?

A beautiful room to love and a mess from a child is always welcomed.

Dear Terri -
I can feel your joy all the way here in DC :) As I youngest of 12, I missed each and every one (well almost) of my siblings when they left home. Enjoy time with your family! Wishing you all a wonderful and merry Christmas!
PS - Thank you for your support and friendship this year. You've been very gracious!

Loved this post. Your son's room is cozy and so welcoming. He is lucky you care so much. It inspires me to do the same (as much as I can) to my high schooler's room. I love that he let you use your treasures.

Your blog is always a bright spot. It's been great to find it this year and I hope still to get up to Alameda this year and see you one day!

Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and break with your son and family!

I stumbled on this post and I'm so glad i did. I SO relate to that gushy, warm feeling that comes when my son gets home from college. I never thought I'd look fondly at a messy pile of clothes, but it's so wonderful to have the whole family under the same roof again. I love what u did with the room too. I need to incorporate some of your unique touches.

I can feel how good we mother are feeling when we have our kids at home. No matter how much mess they create they still give us happiness and smile on our face.
