Mission Accomplished!

I'm feeling pretty good about myself these days...

I've completed several projects that I've been meaning to do for the longest time.

The spark was my newest sponsor, Laura & Kiran, and their line of gorgeous handcrafted fabrics.

Trust me, it was very hard not to choose one of their incredible ikat patterns or other lively prints but I've learned a very important principle in home design.

When your room or space is rather busy, (like mine) and already has a lot of color and pattern going on it's best to choose solid or textured fabrics.

And vice versa, when a room is more sedate with a  minimal background & color palette, exciting and vibrant textiles and accessories really take it over the top!

So first up was my antique bamboo screen.

(Check out my new lamps complete with their new shades!)

I can't tell you how long I've had this.

It was the piece that began my love affair with Victorian era bamboo.

After much consideration, I decided to go with a nice ivory colored silk keeping it neutral and elegant.

I think it works well and enhances rather than competes with the other elements in the room.

The entry leading into the living room is wallpapered with hand-painted Chinese silk murals, again a busy background.

So, playing off the ivory silk of the screen,  I chose a textured neutral for the bench we have in our entry.

It's amazing how neutrals "pop" in my space!

The best part was that I was able to take advantage of the recent sale at Laura & Kiran and get these gorgeous high quality fabrics at 30% off!

It's definitely my go to place for fabric!

And if you happen to need a bench, I purchased a pair, so the mate is available.  Email me for details.
