Decorating Gone to the Dogs!

I recently picked up a collection of vintage porcelain dogs at an estate sale thinking they could be fabulous as part of a vignette.

Last week my friend Lisa stopped in the shop and created this wonderful vignette for me placing them among some of my ironstone pieces.

It was so exciting to see my idea executed so brilliantly.  Make no mistake... Lisa is brilliant at creating stunning vignettes.  If you haven't seen my post on her amazing home check it out here.

I think she was actually surprised at how fun they were to work with!

We agreed they would be equally charming placed  in a secretary or bookcase or as part of a stunning table setting tucked here and there among antlers, feathers and brown transferware.

Talk about the perfect accessories for this time of year!

Think Fall/Thanksgiving decorations!

The collection consists of 18 different breeds,

 in all shapes and sizes.

 They are vintage,

made in Japan.

They are available to purchase in any quantity but the collection is what makes them so versatile and fun to decorate with.

It's the principle of "en masse" that my friend Kathysue of Good Life of Design blogged about a few weeks ago.

If you want to make them...

A real treasure for anyone intrigued by hunting and herding breeds. Fun for any dog lover.

Sadly, I saw no Saint Bernards among them.

I have a collection of dog figurines and at Christmas time I place a little mini green wreath around each one of their necks. It is super cute and everyone loves it!!

SUPER cute. My good friend has a huge collection of springer spaniels. I know you want to sell them together...but do you have any Boston Terriers?

I would never think to display statues in a stack of bowls. It's looks cute.

Hello Terri:

I love how freely Lisa created these table settings, the dogs roam freely yet she has so artistically arranged them.

A beautiful collection.

These pooches are darling! Love how you have them hanging in the boys and among the dishes!

My favorite is the one laying on its belly with arms folded!

I love the little pups, but I have to be honest what caught my eye was the brown transferware tea pot! I love it! Great finds, and beautiful photos.

Adorable! I am such a dog lover. Except I don't see a Jack Russell in the mix which is what I have.

An adorable collection...congrats to the lucky new owner. I started a collection of little dogs for Haleigh years ago and she has yet to wisk them off to Paris...after seeing your charming vignette, I think I will incorporate them into a Christmas vignette so she can enjoy them when she is home for the holidays. All the best,
