Out treasure hunting a few weeks ago I spied this wonderful old sail outside in a pile of junk and couldn't believe my eyes when I pulled it out to inspect it and saw LA DOLFINA staring back at me!
I let it soak in my bathtub for a few days and am now contemplating how to re purpose it.
My first thought was a shower curtain...
but it's a rather small sail that's sustained several rips and tears so that won't work.
Now I'm thinking of having it made into a treasure hunting tote incorporating some of the nautical stitching and grommets.
What would you do?

Send it to me! You know I love old sails! I know exactly what you would like me to make you with it.
Oh my!! It was just waiting for YOU to find it, what a treasure indeed!!!
I like the idea of a tote or some pillows!! what a wonderful treasure, Kathysue
there are places that will make you a boat n'tote bag from old sails. try sailbags:
http://www.seabags.com/index.php
they make bags for our sailing club from our old sails. we sell the bags to raise money for the club (it's a non-profit).
How about having it repaired and cleaned and having La Dolphina stitched into it and using it somewhere in the new shop as advertisement. Or I see it in your den! Use the grommets to pull it taut on a wall! I would do La Dolphina in Orange or turqoise blue along the side, so the words run sideways!
Buy another sail and go for your original shower curtain idea? I'll do it for you!
I like Tricia's idea! Would make such a cool shower curtain!
In the junk? You lucky girl!! My first thought was a shower curtain too. I've seen headboards, pillows (of course), totes yes. Ottoman? Anything is going to be great!!
Maybe banner for outside?? My husband just saw it and threw that out! Is Tricia serious!?
Oh a treasure indeed!! I saw the most wonderful pillows made out of an old sail, but sadly someone else got to them first - they were fabulous.
You could applique it onto a shower curtain, then you would get the full effect. I might hang it outside everytime I had company. Ann
By the way, what does your Mom think of the new shop? Does she hang around there very much?
have it made into a big tote bag (a la Seabags) with the number & dolphin on brilliant display!
