For the first time in 16 years, Shopkeeper Robyn Robertson will be unveiling a curated collection of fabulous vintage attire that she's been passionately collecting over the past year.

 She allowed me into the "back room" for a sneak peek at some of the offerings which will include purses, shoes and jewelry.

Fashion Show starts at 7:00pm

Plan on shopping, sipping and celebrating with  music, raffle prizes and sweet savories.

Admission fee is $5.00 per person

Advanced ticket sales available at Gardenseed. 

 It's a fabulous shop if you've never been, especially if you are a "girly girl", you won't want to leave!

The History of the Bar Stool

Bar stools began out of necessity.

No one really knows who first invented the bar stool.

One can only speculate that they are evolved forms of wooden chairs used in the past.

The wooden stools of the past were basically simple wood models with three wooden legs. They were the most basic of models used to provide a person with a place to sit.

Often they were not part of a table setting so they would be pulled up to an extra table or a bar which is how they are believed to have gotten the nickname, "bar stools".

While the original bar stools were very simple pieces of necessary furniture, it probably wasn't expected that they would evolve to the popularity that they have today. 

In the 50s and 60s especially, bar stools really took off and could be found in nearly every bar or restaurant around.

This is when they really began to change shape and be found in different sizes, colors, materials and styles.

They would only continue to grow from there.

You can also find bar stools in a variety of sizes and heights.

You will find out that the height of the bar stool is one of the most important aspects of the bar stool.

This is why it's very important for you to measure the table, bar or counter top properly so you can get the perfect bar stool.

Bar stools have changed and evolved a lot since their early days.

They are now available to suit most any needs or style. This has come about over time as people adapted their bar stools to fit different types of needs and situations.

Many people can remember using bar stools in their childhood days. 

You may have sat at the breakfast bar preparing for the day ahead.

We may also have experienced bar stools in the local ice cream parlor or even in the barber shop. 

These fond memories show us how much the bar stool has evolved over time. 

The history of the bar stool shows us that bar stools can fit in most any room of the house and even in the business place.

Bar stools are functional and fun and have become part of the American culture.

Bar stools in commercial settings will often be swivel or floor mounted but those used in personal settings are typically not mounted. 

This has also changed throughout history however and it is acceptable to have any type you want that goes with your theme or decor. You can find tons of bar stools here.

In the past, bar stools were made of mostly wood but now metal and wood bar stools are very common. 



Aluminum is a good choice of material for bar stools that can last indoors or out.

As the years go by, the history of bar stools will continue to grow and evolve.

Last but not least I'd like to introduce you to the third man in my life, the 4th pair of eyes responsible for the eclectic mix of treasures to be found at The House of Hoarders

I met Jordan several months ago at an estate sale.  I saw him staring at my pile of goodies so I walked over to admire his.  I introduced myself and gave him my card with my blog info and said, "email me sometime".  Well suffice it to say, he did, and the rest shall we say is "history."

Jordan is the youngest partner in the shop and has been treasure hunting for most of his 28 years.

He grew up in the quaint summer colony of Twain Harte which is situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in what is known as "Gold Rush or Mother Lode Country."

I think it is this background which brings so much history to his rare and unusual finds.
