My latest score was

Transformational!

In that it has completely transformed my prop shop and helped to make it much more organized and accessible.

I found it at the estate sale I posted about on Friday out in the garage.

I don't think anyone noticed it.

My first thought was "it's perfect for the prop shop!"  I looked for a price tag and spied a piece of masking tape with $50 scrawled on it.

What makes it so unique is that it has 16 drawers and they are all 24" deep!

My husband and I went back on Saturday to pick up this behemoth.  I was feeling a bit guilty about having him deal with this over a long holiday weekend.  Even the estate sale guy, Rick, told me I better make it worth his while!

Well all my guilt quickly disappeared when we got it to the prop house and found the perfect spot for it.

We had to shuffle things around but I can't believe how perfect it is to store and display my "smalls".

It sort of feels like shopping in an old time general store.  I'm going to label all the drawers today.

Tomorrow I'll give you a peek inside the prop shop.

I want to thank those of you who took the time to email me and leave encouraging comments about the recent blogger woes that have been plaguing so many of us.  Your words and support meant the world to me!

Is it me?

Or is it blogger?

It's true, I'm getting less comments these days but several sweet blogger friends have taken the time to email me to let me know that La Dolfina is experiencing some difficulty when it comes to leaving comments.

Anybody else experiencing this?

Friday's Finds

I picked up a few goodies at a thrift store before heading off to an estate sale first thing this morning...

Ironstone Pitcher,  Flower Frog and Mesquite Burl Wood Belt Buckle

 I stood in line

with this vintage couple.

Aren't they cute?

I'm going back tomorrow to pick up my treasure.
Stay tuned...

Wishing you a wonderfully long & relaxing
Memorial Day Weekend!

Lady Luck Strikes Twice!

Would you believe...

I found this,

or rather, I found this lady,

who found this in the same thrift store where I scored my Williams Sonoma Home sofa last week!

I went back the other day and was circling the store when I spied this roll of matching fabric.

I proceeded to tell her that I bought the sofa that matched her fabric a few days earlier.

I asked her if she wanted to sell it.

We struck a deal and then spent the next hour becoming friends.

The real treasure was Helen, the fabric was just the catalyst that brought us together!

Waiting...

For these to be priced.

Someone dropped these off at a thrift store just before I got there.  When I brought them to the counter to buy them, I was told I'd have to wait until they were priced.  That was last Thursday.

I'm still waiting...

What do you think of them?
How much do you think they will be?
I hope I can afford them. I love them both, but if I had to choose only one I'd choose the first one. Which one would you choose? The second one is reverse painted on glass.

What a difference a year makes...

Last year at this time we were getting geared up for graduation and preparing to send our one and only off to college...

and now with just a few weeks left to go in his freshman year, he came home this past weekend for a quick visit before finals,

bringing with him a lovely new friend  and fellow classmate.

Lizzy is from Southern California so Chris had a great time showing her around Berkeley and San Francisco.

Here she is getting acquainted with my blowfish

She's a fabulous young lady and we really enjoyed  getting to know her.

I think it was just what they needed before heading back and hitting the books!

Le Cirque

I saw Water for Elephants this week and loved it!
It was breathtakingly beautiful and made me grateful for movies that succeed so authentically in transporting us back in time.

(I found this whimsical watercolor at an estate sale)

The circus was quite a sight to behold back then.

I've never been one for clowns except for the ones in Cirque de Soleil.

In fact I've always found them to be rather scary, that is until... I came across this wonderful vintage book from the 1940's.

GA-GA

Ever since I got this book I can't stop staring at this bunch of unique & amazing clowns!

J'adore the ropes under the big top!

GOOZLE
and his two gawking goslings,

DROOPY and his closest friend OSCAR

WIDGET

This tattered little blue book with it's beautifully rendered drawings has captured my heart!
