Over the weekend...

We upgraded our dining room buffet.

I went to an estate sale late on Sunday and it was one of the few pieces left.

I got it half price.

I paid $125

The gentleman who was holding the sale told me that to replace it today it would cost around $4,000!

 I love it!
It is much more elegant than what we had.
I love it's neo-classical design and how long and narrow it's proportions are.  It has completely opened up our dining space and is the perfect complement to our McGuire glass top dining table.

I forgot to show you photos of the gorgeous gray marble inserts on the top!

Originally we purchased our Thomasville dining room set which was comprised of a table, 3 leaves, a buffet and 6 chairs at a garage sale.  We've used it for the last 15 years or so.  Several years ago we bought our McGuire table off craigslist, so slowly but surely we've been upgrading our dining room furniture.

Next up... new chairs!
I'm in no rush though... the best things come when you're not looking.

Don't forget to check IL TUO TESORO for your next treasure!

I had to go to Rate My Space to see what your old dining room buffet looked like. I liked it a lot and I bet you can use it somewhere else in the house but yes...this new one is so you. And you have to have a big one for all those sea fans and coral! I love your sense of style so much. Why don't you just paint those dining room chairs black and recover the seats in something fabulous....a red or black chinese influenced toile or something? Gosh I love how decadent that sideboard looks with all that coral on top. You are a girl after my own heart...to hell with practicality...lets just do what looks fabulous! You want to put food on my buffet? China? I don't think so... that is where my big coral collection goes...thank you.....

That buffet is just beautiful! What a fantastic find, you really snagged a bargain on that piece. I love your coral collection, and the gorgeous Asian wall hanging above it. It all works so well together.

Therese, Wow, what a steal! Is there a maker's label inside? It looks very high end. I would guess more like $7,000. You are one lucky girl! Also, can you post on the hanging screen that is on the wall behind it? Looks interesting.

I just had to comment on the price I paid for this buffet, believe me, I was as shocked as the rest of you! The moral of the story is... go late on the last day of an estate sale and you never know what will be left! The guy told me that it was the best piece at the sale and even at the full asking price of $250, people still passed it by all weekend. Go figure... I guess it was meant for me :)
Thank you all so much for your kind comments and I'm so happy you all love my coral, sea fan, and sea sponge collection as much as I do :)
I really appreciate you all taking the time to leave me comments!

Here in Italy you couldn't even buy the marble for that price! I'd like to go shopping with you—is it your eye or your eyes?
