Instead of Estate Sales Today

It's Ironing Day!

Well...

Today is the day my Mom has been dreaming of for months now...

Let me get you up to speed.

Last month my friends Erika & Sandy, who own the amazing shop The Tattered House in Roseville, came to stay and treasure hunt with me.

Of course my Mom joined in on the fun.
With that one track mangle mind of hers the first thing she asked them was if they ever got a mangle.

Unbelievably Sandy looked at her and casually announced that she had a mangle!

My Mom calmly looked at her and said, "but is it an Ironrite?"

Sandy said, "I don't know, someone gave it to me years ago and it's been sitting in my classroom (she home schools) with magnets all over it. I have no clue what a mangle is or how it works.  Let me call my daughter and ask her to look and see.

We were shopping at The White Elephant Sale at the time and had all gone in different directions.  About an hour or so later Sandy caught up with me in the Accessories Dept. where she casually tells me that, "oh yeah it's an Ironrite.

My heart skipped a beat as I  grabbed her by the arm and literally dragged her down the aisle to the Art Dept. where my Mom was.  She happened to be standing at the counter when she saw us speed walking towards her.

Breathlessly, I said to Sandy, "tell her"!
Sandy said, "it's an Ironrite".
Tears immediately began streaming down my Mom's face.  She was speechless which is rare for her.

So my friends, we are off to Roseville this morning to bring home the elusive mangle.  And like I promised, I am going to take a video of my Mom doing her thing on her beloved mangle so stay tuned!

Happy Saturday Everyone!
Be sure to check out the lovely treasure just listed at IL TUO TESORO.

The "search" is finally over!!!! Horray!!!!

The first I ever heard of a mangle was an article in House Beautiful some years ago, by a then unknown (by me) young designer by the name of Edward Ross. I still have that magazine and I'm not sure if I've ever told him.

So happy for your mom!!!

Enjoy hearing about your Mom and the mangle.
My sisters and I used to fight over who got to
use the mangle first. lol Great for ironing table cloths. In the 1970's sheet were still made from
percale cotton and some were muslin.
