was the last day of our vacation on The Newport Coast.
We spent it at Crystal Cove State Park Beach.
Crystal Cove is a stretch of coastal cliffs and a beach front cove situated between the Pacific Coast Highway and the Pacific Ocean just north of Laguna Beach.
The first thing we saw as we made our way down to the beach was the sight of dolphins frolicking offshore!
We stood transfixed...
It was an auspicious start to a glorious day.
We walked the beach taking in the wonder of the cliffs, rocks, tide pools & sandy coves.
It was so pristine and peaceful on this perfect Thursday morning...
The tide pools were amazing with their underwater sunflowers,
the rock formations... awesome,
and the abundant treasures laid out in the wet sand were fascinating.
Rocky ottomans dotted the coastline.
I'm continually struck at how God's creations are connected and share similarities.
A piece of seaweed much like a tree and it's roots.
Rock that mimics tree bark.
A small rock that reminded me of Andre the Giant, the OBEY brand icon that my son covets.
My husband tagged this rock an Oreo cookie while I saw it as a chocolate macaroon.
Doesn't this remind you of the aerial view looking out of an airplane window?
And this rocky formation reminds me of the human spine.
This close-up photo of a tide pool reminds me of aerial imagery of the Earth.
Needless to say, I'm a big fan of "God's Art".
I'm grateful for the time spent here on this day,
just hours before the earthquake in Japan,
and the ensuing Tsunami whose effects were felt all the way to this very coastline.
My prayers are with those who are dealing with the aftermath of Nature's power, and grace.

What a beautiful vacation morning...yes...so amazing that all this beauty can be and then hours later nature destroys. I'm sure it was pretty that morning in Japan too.

Incredible pictures......love the narration as well as the fabulous shots you took. I too, am completely devastated by what has happened.....we must continue to pray for Gods healing and wish them a speedy recovery during this tragic time.
Loved this post. I do this same thing in nature but some of your images are so spot on, the spine, well all of them really. Did you take that rock home? I so would have. I had a photo from Crystal Cove on my blog a few weeks ago! Not mine though, one of my four lovely women goes a few times a year and stays in one of the cabin places.
I've had to stop watching the images of Japan and just pray for them, it's just too upsetting. The power of it all is a bit overwhelming. Prayers and thoughts of healing to them all.

Looks like you had the most wonderful day on the coast. It is difficult to comprehend what the Japanese are going through. I was looking at a website with photos of Sendai before the quake and tsunami and it was so beautiful with forests and gardens and gorgeous buildings and artwork. Now it is all rubble. I cannot fathom.

I agree with everyone Terri, a beautiful post showing your appreciation for God's beauty and creations and not taking it for granted. I cannot fathom experiencing a 9. earthquake (which today they said now that Japan's was). I've lived through a 6.5 & thought that was horrific. My prayers go out to everyone in Japan. So very ..very heart-wrenching.
