You can see how smitten I am not only with the genius that is Carolyne Roehm, but with a natural approach to decorating for the holidays that relies on the subtler elements found in nature.
Love this warm and inviting look. I did a nature inspired look for the dining room last year. I will post that soon!! This year is a bit different. Having fun re-creating some old, some new, Fa-la-la- ♫ ♪ ♫
I agree, Carolyne Roehm's style is absolutely gorgeous. She also has(or had)a home in CT near where my parents lived and when I would visit I would always take a daily walk past her home just so I could enjoy the style of her home's exterior. I love the mantle(above)and books. Those pinecones! Breathtaking post! I have been so busy and haven't had a chance to post in a couple of weeks. Maybe tonight or tomorrow. But it's good to visit your site.
FIRST, YESTERDAY'S posting on "The Lady C.R." left me almost breathless, as it is SOOOOO my/our style/love!!!
THEN, early this a.m. even MORE of this incredibly talented woman's "displays"... geez, how much more can I TAKE before my heart gives out???? (It's kind of EMBARRASSING to be DROOOOLING over my keyboard, too~ and especially at MY age!!!)...
Seriously tho, am sending MANY, MANY THANKS to YOU annnnd the "DIVINE MS. R"... Her approach to creating & sharing her very beautiful & welcomed preference for a more natural look speaks so highly of her and her personal style and most wonderful flair!!!
Thank you again, and warmest holiday wishes... to BOTH of you!
I'm with you - she is my style icon in terms of table top. The At Home with Carolyne Roehm is one of my favorite books I own. I featured her in my Thanksgiving post and will be in Christmas as well. I went to a party once in her spectacular New York apartment and she is lovely and gracious
I am a passionate treasure huntress addicted to "the thrill of the hunt." I pride myself on finding unique items and have spent a lifetime collecting unusual and interesting "treasures" which I have used in decorating our home. I shop with an eye for design and look for pieces that I like to call the "jewelry" of the room. Those pieces that have been around accumulating energy thereby bringing life into a space by telling its story or evoking a memory. The allure is found in the details of its journey... condition, provenance and patina. Our collected "treasures" tell the story of who we are. Billy Baldwin said it best, "Decorating is never successful unless it is personal." My treasures are available for purchase in my Etsy Shop and on my companion blog, Shop La Dolfina. The links can be accessed from my sidebar.
"All of life is about energy. It's about the energy that you're putting out; energy that you're drawing to yourself, every day, based on the way you think about your life & the actions that you take. Everybody is an energy field. And because of your attitude, your thinking, your actions; who you choose to be in the world, forms your own field. You are drawing into your field people who are like you... to remind you, to show you, to reflect back to you- who you are. Believe that or not, that is what is happening all the time... and it does not require your belief. It just is. It. Just. Is." -Oprah

Not only does she make everything she touches just sparkle -- but I love those tips. Note to self - buy extra greenery to refresh mid month!
Happy December, Terri!

I love it! Though I do laugh that she titled it "au naturel".
I love the two evergreens flanking the fireplace in the first pic. So very au naturel. I would leave them just as they are.
wow that chandelier and garland are beautiful! and those gifts are just too gorgeous to open! :)
Each and every photo is stunning and has something I can take away! Love the tips for the fresh trees...we are almost ready to get ours.

She =rwally is the gift wrap queen! Love the natural direction and I quess I need to buy some more greens and go hunting for more pinecones. XO
I adore everything Carolyne Roehm does, from au naturel to the most ornate - it's always perfection...no detail too small!!
Her look is fabulous...what's not to love?
