Both my mom and my uncle's homes were part of the Holiday Home Tour this year benefiting The Alameda Family Services League.
My uncle's home is a grand old Spanish Revival that wraps the corner of Northwood Dr. (the street I grew up on) and Yale Dr. where he and my mom grew up and where my mom now lives.
His address is actually Gibbons Drive which is one of the most beautiful tree lined streets in Alameda.
"Alameda" actually means, tree-lined avenue!
This fountain greets you at the entry to his home.
Santa had the perfect spot for a long afternoon of greeting guests. You may remember the greeting he gave my mom when he saw her!!
My mom is no stranger to this house.
They have lived in the same neighborhood, just a few houses apart, for over 40 years!
The Living Room with windows on two sides is typical of the Spanish Revival style.
My uncle is also a treasure hunter, it runs in the family!
I remember how excited he was when he found these life size elves at the going out of business sale of a large local department store.
He has a fabulous collection of original french cabaret posters.
The large art piece above the piano is actually a foundry mold for a ship's gear that my uncle found years ago.
He's great at displaying his quirky finds!
This is a shot of the kitchen which is located at the back of the house and looks out to the backyard. He and my aunt travel quite a bit throughout Mexico where they find and bring back many of their unusual pieces.
I'll end the tour here with a shot of their bar, the hot spot of many wonderful parties they've thrown over the years...
TOMORROW... we'll tour
My Mom's House!

The entry is just beautiful!!!!
Happy Holidays, Therese!
I love the front porch and the living room is gorgeous with the beautiful ceiling. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree! Can't wait to see your Mom's house tomorrow!
This is fantastic! What a great family you have, first that you are all so close (physically & emotionally!) and that you all have such a great taste! I love seeing your mom in pictures, I feel like I almost know her. This is a fun, but elegant and historic house. I love California homes. It's that spanish style. LOVELY!
You are all collectors!!! And great collectors!
I see where you get your awesome taste! It is inherited! Love the foundry wheel and the kitchen. So cozy and interesting!
It's fabulous and I love that your Mom has lived in that neighborhood for so long, nice to have a history somewhere. I'm drooling over the vintage poster - can't wait to see your Mom's house!
