pulling things together for my
Thanksgiving Table.
It's in the conceptual stage right now.
I've been throwing things together to help inspire my table top vignette.
It's sort of a "beautiful mess" as my friends Eddie & Jaithan like to call it.
We haven't hosted Thanksgiving for several years and I'm really excited!
It's extra special too because it's the first Thanksgiving that our son comes home from college!
My Mom told me that the Holidays take on extra meaning when your kids come home.
I think she's right as I've never felt more in the holiday spirit even though it's hotter than a summer day in the Bay Area today.
I'm even inspired by these turtle shells!
I picked up these gorgeous Ikat napkins on sale several years ago at Anthropologie
which are the inspiration for my color scheme.
I bought these yellow Tiffany & Co. cachepots last month at an estate sale and am thinking of filling them with succulents.
I can't wait to use the new silver dome that my sweet husband got for my birthday this year.
I'm going to use this set of Ralph Lauren dishes I found at Marshalls. The pattern is called Reed Natural.
And of course I'll squeeze in the family of brass quail I came across on a recent treasure hunting trip.
I don't want to leave out my whimsical family of snails created by one of my favorite artists, Wendy Addison.
And no Thanksgiving Table would be complete without feathers!
I hope I'm not the only one who makes a mess before they set the table!!

Terri,
I love seeing your wheels in motion! Your table will be gorgeous but it will be those sitting around it that will truly make it special this year. What a wonderful homecoming for your son!!
xo, Elizabeth
It's going to be fantabulous. Between the quail and the feathers and that dome (oh that lovely dome) how could it be anything less?! We are going away for Thanksgiving this year. I need the break. I'll enjoy your planning for now and look forward to seeing the finished product.
Wow, what a lovely array of treasures you've got to work with Terri. Can't wait to see what it looks like when all done and hear your thanksgiving stories. We have to live vicariously over here!!
You really have some pretty things there Terri, what a shame we don't 'do' Thanksgiving in Europe, looks like you have such fun.
Sharon
Well, you really have a lot to work with and with your talent and taste it will be a magnificent

You're right- it is a BEAUTIFUL "mess" Can't wait to see it all set up! ;)
Your table will be beautiful. I go to Thanksgiving at a girlfriend's every year and we always laugh because she has so much decoration on the table, there is barely room for the place settings...truly...you have to eat around feathers and pine cones and such. But it is pretty!
Oh, it's going to be amazing.. look at all your beautiful goodies! I love the turtle shells.. where can I get 2 to hang up? xoxo
Everything in your vignettes are so inspiring. What a feast and a treat it will be for your honored guests. I love the yellow and green. Just gorgeous, perfect sharing.
warm wishes
Kate
Looking forward to seeing your table setting - love the parts! And yes, holidays take on extra meaning when the kids come home -- we have three in college who will be heading home next week. Can't wait! Cathy
Wish I had this "beautiful mess". It's going to be exquisite...take lots of pictures!!
some lovely stuff, there, T. Those napkins are a beautiful jumping off point!
Ooooh, can't wait to see what you do. You have a lot to work with!
To say it looks like it's going to the birds, sounds a bit negative, but it is certainly NOT meant that way. Love the song birdies, the quail, and the pheasant feathers! Tweet Tweet.
How fun to see how your mind works "making a mess" before setting the table. I love it...I do the same thing and doesn't it feel good to have a game plan? How lovely that your son will be home for this first Thanksgiving since leaving the nest...what a special reason to get preparations under way!
Wow, Teri...it's going to look AMAZING! Take pics for the blog. xoxoxo, Reich :)

Love to see the wheels in motion - your "mess" is so inspiring - love all your picks especially the reed natural - love the way it looks with your golden pieces!
That's one hot
INSPIRED mess, I'd
say! What fun bootie!
Love the quail family
and the tureen in the
first pic is so dear.
Bet you can't wait to
have your boy back at
the table!
xx Suzanne
Ooh....I think it's going to be just gorgeous!!! Can't wait to see the finished product:)
The serving piece in the first photo is truly lovely.
I can't wait to see the final outcome! And holidays are definitely more special when your kids start coming home. Plan something for Sunday night or Monday when he leaves, because it's really hard when you have been reminded of just how much you've missed him. Maybe plan to go to one of your favorite thrift stores or a funny movie!
You have such beautiful and amazing things to work with. It is going to be a wonderful Thanksgiving. I can't wait to see what you do.
But the best part is that I can feel your excitement about planning Thanksgiving and having your son come home. It is going to be a spectacular holiday at your house!
You have collected some pretties for sure. I can tell that many of them must have a story!
That's the best kind of "stuff" to have.
I'm looking forward to setting my table too, but mainly just having everyone home together & in the kitchen!
I like the feathers for sure. The dining room is a mess already so I thinks it's more like reservations for moi.
Love the direction you are taking w this table! Yes - feathers, shells and bird figurines.
xo,
cristin
Oh my... I'm sure that your table will be utterly gorgeous! And I'm sure your son is looking forward to coming home as much as you are having him come :)
So many beautiful treasures to choose from. Can't wait to see what you do...it's going to be amazing!!
