My sweet Mom showed up this morning with this shell cake she made and was so excited to show me before she frosted it!
A very big day, as it's both my birthday and the last day before we take our son off to college. Even though I can't seem to stop the tears I am incredibly grateful for all the blessings that I have in my life. And though I'm sad and nervous I have faith that the next chapter in our lives is going to be wonderful.
And this was the Birthday Card!
And this was the Birthday Card!
I want to take this moment to tell each and every one of you how much you mean to me and how happy I am to have found a home here in blogland where I feel so much love and friendship.
Wish me luck this weekend!

Good luck Mom! It opens a whole new chapter for your son and for you and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Say hello to your Mom and why isn't she wearing her cake-baking jewels? Oops, I see she is wearing one, of course she is! Best wishes to all. XO
Aw good luck this weekend! Very glad to have found you as well! xx
Terri, I totally feel you about being so lucky to have found this community in blog land - it's so great and you're so great!!
Happy Birthday! Today is my husband's birthday as well - very good day. Just another reason why I feel connected to you. Great cake!! Good luck dropping of your son. We took my daughter (only child) to New Orleans from Phoenix for her frosh year at college - I cried as well, but it got easier, it really did. Harder than leaving them at Kindergarten that first day I thought. Be strong birthday girl but cry all you want.
Happy Birthday + GOOD LUCK! We are all here cheering you on :) xoxo
Oh Happy Birthday!!! I hope your day was the best ever.
Sending one off to college is such a tramatic experience. Full of joy at their accomplishment and saddness that they are gone. There is another life, just a little different, but just as nice. Cry all you want to, it helps. Hugs, Marty
Terri, a very happy birthday to you. I know the feeling of waving goodbye to a child as they start their own adventure. It's hard but also very rewarding to see them live their lives. He'll be missing you too, that's for sure. And that mum of yours is gorgeous. Have the most wonderful, memorable weekend you lovely lady :)xx
Happy Birthday Terri, and good luck this weekend. I know how you feel, I've taken four kids to college and cried every time. I'll be thinking of you.
You know I'm wishing you luck birthday girl. I am thinking of you believe me. It's been the hardest thing having my last child leave for college. If I'm not crying that she's gone I'm crying that my mother & mother in law have passed. I still find it so hard to go into Emily's bedroom & to smell her perfume. Life as we know it changes. You are right there will be some good changes too, but there is nothing wrong for us to feel some sadness for the what will no longer be.
Tell your mom I want her to adopt me. It's the little things like your mother baking you a birthday cake that I miss. I took it all for granted.
A big hug to you and hoping your birthday so far today has been the best ever.
With love, Deb

Dearest Teri,
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY my friend! Look at that shell cake your Mom made!!! It is beautiful to see the generations in your family...the love never ends. May the sun always shine on your face and keep you warm always~

Happy Birthday, Therese! As a mother that has sent her two daughters off to college, I understand your emotions. But be proud, he is at this point, because you raised him to grow and become independent. Those wings fly back home often. And, when they do, it is a great source of pride to see their accomplishments. And,by the way, I love your Mother's shell cake. What a gem she is!
Happy Birthday! It must feel so completely bittersweet! I can't imagine, good luck! How wonderful that your mom is there to lean on and give advice...she seems so cool!

Happy Birthday Terri - and when your son is in college it will feel normal to you - I promise!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! The cake is beautiful...no one knows us like our moms! And, your son feels the same way about you. I know how you feel but he is going to have a fabulous time and many wonderful adventures. And he knows you are just a phone call away. Just remember, you will be back in a few weeks for parent weekend. We all love you and wish you the best. I'm really looking forward to meeting you in the near future. Have a wonderful birthday and a weekend full of love and strength.
