Wooden Boats

I thought Garwood's was just a great restaurant in Carnelian Bay famous for their "Wet Woody",

until I popped into the adjacent boat marina and got a look at my first Gar Wood Boat.

Gar Wood boats are among the most sought-after classic boats in the world.  The fascinating events that led to the development and production of Gar Wood boats is one of the most interesting stories in boating history.

 Check out this beauty!

It's truly a work of art.

This boat and Lake Tahoe are a match made in heaven!

Seriously, have you ever seen such a thing?

I think my La Dolfina life preserver suits it, don't you?

Does this price tag surprise you?

I wonder how much one of these models would set me back.

I did see one of these vintage flags in a local shop for $150 and was seriously tempted.

Fortunately, The Sierra Boat Company Marina carries a wonderful selection of Wooden Boat posters.

You know what they say about the cost of a boat Terri: if you have to ask, you can't afford it!

I have my kayak...

Gorgeous, my husband would love this post (will show him later). We would have to live on the boat if we bought one with those prices!

The interior is like a Hermes box don't you think? I love wood boats, partly due to the fact they remind me of my youth & partly because they are a thing of beauty. I love boats and I use to love to water ski. It's been a long time ...

Thanks for posting about these beauties Terri, such fun. xoxo

I love boats andI love being out on the water. These are just exquisite and the wood panelling.... stunning! I think I may just have to have one and I can just see myself waves crashing around me skimming along the water. I would definitely be wearing my deck shoes, chic scarf or cap and of course a blue and white stripe navy horizontal boat neck top and white shorts. Add to this a gorgeous pair of Chanel aviator sunglasses and a chunky Tag waterproof watch with diamonds! Love the post ...hope you are well!

You would love one of our boats. A 1958 Century Coronado. It has a sliding glass top, a gas pedal and a shifter like an old car with a huge speedometer. Red and cream interior.....
