Water View Party

"What is it about living by water, be it sea, ocean, river or pond, that adds such an interesting and attractive dimension?"  Sharon at My French Country Home recently posed this question and invited me to link up to her "water view party" where I am to describe "our watery spot and how it fits into our Lifescape."

We are infinitely blessed to live in the San Francisco Bay Area in a small town located across the bay from one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

It is actually an island city called Alameda and affords us some of the most spectacular views of the City by the Bay!

Most days our view across the bay is somewhat foggy...

but we are used to that.
Mark Twain once said, "the coldest winter he ever spent was a summer in San Francisco".

Here is a shot from the back of the Oakland Alameda Ferry that many commuters see on their way home each evening.

The best thing about our "watery spot" is that each morning when we walk out of our house, cross the street, and begin our morning ritual of walking to the ferry and back, we pinch ourselves over how blessed we are to live in such a beautiful part of the world!

Hi Therese,

Thank you for linking up to his water view party. I can understand why you love to live here, the views are breathtaking - I can almost smell the ocean air.

So beautiful. I moved near the sea 18 months ago in Australia and it has been a life changing experience. My children are loving it and there really isn't anything better than walking along the beach, cleansing the soul and inhaling the crisp, clean air. The view you have is amazing!

Hi Therese - Sharon had a clever idea for blog party. S.F. views are amazing & it's true, you are blessed to be living there. Reminds me of a view in San Diego near the Coronado bridge that we use to love. Boy, you've confirmed once again how much I miss CA. Hope your soaking in all the delights of San Fran this weekend?
Hugs to you xoxo deb

I visited Alameda a couple weekends ago and was not only surprised but amazed. You live in a charmingly quiet, hidden spot. Though I live on a fresh water alpine lake (Tahoe), I miss the sea. My water has a calming influence even though it is powerful and constantly moving. It is a great inspiration for my art work.

What a gorgeous place to live. I bet just taking the ferry home at night helps you relax.

I knew you were somewhere in the Bay Area but didn't realize you live in Alameda - what a great spot! Yes, I can imagine your daily views of SF are wonderful.
We are in San Mateo county and I frequently have to pause to ponder my good fortune...

I enjoyed your view from Alameda immensely! I used to live in San Diego and we would go up north occasionally. I love the area! The first time I went to California, I spent several days in Alameda and thought it was the perfect location. It has such a community feel and San Francisco is nearby. Thanks for sharing.
