La Contessa's Kitchen & Garden
( click twice for up-close detail )
Take it all in... as there is a lot to see!
Take it all in... as there is a lot to see!
No Italian kitchen would be complete without an espresso machine.
Love the quirky refrigerator with the wonderful basket on top
A chef's kitchen
I hear the Italian husband is a wonderful cook!
Love this detail
The door to the pantry
A peek inside... the pantry/laundry room complete with matching chandeliers
The bar, just off the kitchen
Love how they store the glassware!
Some refreshment is in order before we stroll about the contessa's garden
This cozy sitting nook is off to the right in front of the cabinet of glassware.
The dining space complete with farm table
I can imagine the fabulous meals and conversations that have taken place in this inviting space
The Contessa takes us into her secret garden...
where the vignettes continue outside...
Here she is explaining that the Italian husband had finally wired the chandelier from the tree branch.
Considering that this Tuscan Villa is in California and not Italy...
I was blown away by the size and privacy it afforded the Contessa and her Italian husband.
Even more so when I discovered that they had created this personal paradise with their own two hands and sweat equity!
We followed the Contessa down The Spanish Steps,
and over the bridge of sighs...
as we took in the vistas, vignettes and vines that made up her secret garden.
The Contessa and her Italian husband have recently started to cultivate their own vegetable garden.
My Mom raises her glass, grateful to have spent a few hours in the Contessa's idyllic world
The best part is that we garnered an invitation to dinner on Memorial Day Weekend!!
Next up... the boudoir!
Intoxicating!! Woo-whoo! I'm the first to post!!
Great photo's and story-telling Terri. I want to sit in her kitchen.. Going to slowy re-visit your great pictures.

It looks like you and your Mom went through the rabbit hole~~ Lucky girls! How fun, fabulous & inspiring!
It is all beautiful...but the mirror on the tree was so creative. I live in a loft, so no trees...now I am longing for a tree with a mirror !
I don't think I closed my mouth the whole time I was reading! I so want to sit in her kitchen and drink espresso! What an amazing Treasure House! You and your mother are so lucky to be attending a Memorial Day Dinner! You will def. have to do a post on that. Take lots of pictures!
That certainly is living abundantly! what a larger-than-life (enhancing) woman!
Goodness it looks like a bed and breakfast place instead of a private home. It must have been a wonderful time...Well, according to your Mom it was.
What character! So inviting, and so lovely. I bet you could look around for hours! xx
I can tell this is a lady that lives life to its fullest!! Her garden is amazing, Kathysue
Oh, my... I am slowly but surely getting jealous - you really get to visit amazing places!
She is the coolest lady ever! Her house is like strolling through a vintage boutique. I wouldn't want to leave. xo
The gardens are just wonderful. The house looks like an antique store not a private home. Too much for me. Cleaning it would be a nightmare, but I would love to shop there.
So much to take in! I covet the pulcinella hat! She has had a wonderful life....just look at all the treasures she surrounds herself with.
You really put your heart in this post..AWESOME..yvonne
How totally enchanting...I love that kitchen! I love the personality it has. Hugs and thanks for sharing! xoxox
I adored this post......the uniqueness and the playfullness of the owner knocked my socks off!!!
Loved it all!
What an A M A Z I N G space! The yellow walls and the mirror on the tree are my faves!! Cheers to you and your mom! Happy Weekend to you both!!
Too fabulous. I love all of the details. Adding La Dolfina to the Splendid Market blogroll!!
Now that is a kitchen!!!! I could easily see myself spending hours cooking in it and chatting with friends. I would kill for that wolf stove and the espresso machine!
Thank you for taking so many great photos, so that we can all drool over the Contessas kitchen:)
GORGEOUS! What a treat! By looking at these photos, I just feel relaxed. It's like another world.

Gorgeous, gorgeous pics, as always! I LOVE your virtual tours! That yellow kitchen is wonderful, but my very favorite thing out of all of these is the mirror on the tree! A mirror on a tree! Love!
Just catching up Terri! Love La Contessa and the Hen House. What a great peek into her home and learning more about her!!! Fun!
That yellow just makes me happy to look at, so I can imagine how happy it makes you feel when you are actually in that room. Love the double chandeliers in the pantry. What a great day xoxo
