Swinging Singles

There is something about single beds...

(Image via domino)

I would love to sleep in a bunk bed again...

if just for one night.

I can just imagine the conversations that would take place in these rooms!

Summer memories are made here

and here

and here.

Rooms with twin beds compel you to have a conversation before nodding off.

These are all so adorable and inspiring...BUT....I couldn't give up my KING sized bed!!! I did share a bunk with my little brother until I was in the first grade...I got TOP billing, which was fun...and made sure MY son had bunk beds, too! Now he's a big guy and has a cool PLATFORM bed from IKEA. Kind of miss those TWIN days! xx P&H

I love these images...what a great post! I never had bunk beds (except at camp) but always wanted them, along with a canopy bed (which I never got)! By the way, thanks for added me to your blog roll, I've added you, too! Beth

Terri, seeing twin beds made me think of spending the night at my girlfriends for a sleep over, where of course we did not sleep very much but talked all night. Great post, sweetie, Kathysue

what a great post! I used to love our bunk beds at our family cottage - although being the youngest, I always had to sleep in the bottom one - bummer. : )

Lovely images. I still sleep in single bed time to time, we have the whole upstairs to ourselves when we visit my in laws, but they have only single beds upstairs. Lovely oldbeds inherited and bought from auctions.

Even though they are a bit short and narrow, I sleep very peacefully there.

I used to love sleeping in a single bed as a child. Especially on holidays - it would make me want to stay up chatting all night. Such fun!

So many of these images are stored up in my files as well, there is something so endearing and compelling about these sweet cozy nooks. Loved this.

oh man! what a post! you know my favourite is the one with the canopy over the both of them like it's a king bed w/ the starburst. i saw the pink one by Cathy Kincaid in person a few years ago (the one you had w/ pink patterned walls & monogrammed pillows) and she is amazing.

Those are some great photos!! The first one is adorable with all the little girls! The last one is one I had in my inspiration folder for my daughter forever! That is until she decided to grow up. Darn her! 9 going on "I don't like girly" ;)

I just saw a great bunk bed very similar to the second image, in that Furniture store on Park in Alameda. It is periwinkle blue with the same exact look. My fave is the one that goes to the ceiling and has drawers. There was a great house on the market recently in Alameda with beds facing opposite, with great picture windows all around. So light and airy. Awesome.

Oh my word...I just had to come back and comment about your house!!! I was up till almost 1AM looking through your "Rate My Space" photos! You have done such an AMAZING job decorating your house! The way that you have pulled all kinds of finds (hi & lo) together to look so great is INCREDIBLE!!! I am so in awe! Please come do this to my house! Geez, when I see homes pulled together like this, it makes me cringe that I even posted my frightening little attempts to decorating my house! How do you do it? You definitely have an "eye!" Anyway, I love everything I've seen so far! You're sons room...GORGEOUS and so boy appropriate while still remaining mature and sophisticated! And your office...with the mirrored shelf??? How do you keep that clean??? You must have help? O.K., I've written a novel but just wanted to let you know how fantastic a decorator I think you are! (That's a terrible sentence, but you get the gist!) As soon as I finish browsing your home I will sign up & rate your space for sure!!!! :)Beth

As a child I never really liked bunk beds, but these have a very romantic (and stylish) feel to them. Actually, all the pictures are beautiful.

Lovely images! I like the idea of twin beds, there's something so sweetly old-fashioned about them.

I have 3 little girls in one room with single matching beds but would be ashamed to post pictures! When I tell them to clean their room they shove whatever they can find under the beds, maybe the hubby could build the floor to ceiling bunk beds! That would solve the missing clothes problem.
