I'm longing for...

a new bicycle

or an old one.

A vintage one would be swell

especially one with a basket to hold flowers and produce from the farmer's market.

My husband and I bought a bicycle built for two last summer.  We found a classic white vintage Columbia beach cruiser at The Alameda Pointe for $60.

It took us awhile to get in sync with each other but we found our groove after lots of back & forth communication.

It's a completely different experience riding a tandem but it's a total blast if you can get used to people looking at you.  I don't know why but there is something about seeing 2 people on a bicycle that elicits  lots of stares.

I'm thinking today is the perfect day to dust it off and take it for a spin.

But now that garage sale season is upon us...

I'm going to be looking for a bicycle of my own.

 Although I love these...

I would prefer this!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

Oh my goodness, that picture of the yellow one is exactly the bike my sister had in High school. She even put a basket on it and rode everywhere on that. How funny to remember that now! I love the pink one!

I also LOVE bicycles with PERSONALITY! I would take any of the ones pictured. I have a great one for really hitting the trails, though....a hybrid that can take a variety of surfaces. Mr. Chips {the hubby} is a serious biker and almost every morning last summer we would get on the trail by 5:30AM and ride six miles into town for coffee and then ride home. So quiet and peaceful that time of day! He would LOVE to get a tandem bike for us...but I'm not sure about being a co-pilot versus a pilot. Hope you find your own SWEET ride!

That bike with the shell basket is fabulous!! I can picture you riding it! I love going to Nantucket on vacation because you see so many bikes with baskets and it reminds me of my childhood when I used to ride around with my dog in the basket of my bike, (thankfully, he loved it and never jumped out)! xoxo

You have chosen some absolutely beautiful bikes!!! I have a beach cruisers but I, too, am looking for an old beat up basket to attach to the handle bars. I have visions of riding down to the market and filling it with flowers and riding home to make lovely bouquets! Enjoy your bike ride! By the way, if I ever do get to SF...I will definitely let you know, I would love to visit all your haunts! Also, if you're ever in New England let me know we've got tons of goodies to be found here, too! Happy Weekend! Beth

They are all so cute! As much as I would love to have a pearly light green Hotel Le Meurice bike I think I would be most comfortable riding a faded beach cruiser with a basket to carry my shells in...

It's still too cold (for me) to bike, bu soon I will take my bike out for a ride. Some people bike in snow and ice year around, but I am not that brave...

Fortunately biking routes are quite good here in Helsinki and I can easily bike from my house to city centre in twenty minutes. In the summer I constantly also do that.

Go and buy a bike of your own, biking is fun!

I can't believe this post...I saw a colorful Lily Pulitzer beach bike on line yesterday.

Today I went to an auction and am now the proud owner of a vintage beach bike it's blue ...complete with an old fashioned bell and a basket that is very rust.
Mind you I own a bike that has been used 4 times in over 10 years! It's called a Robin Hood made in England and needs a little TLC but it was too cool to pass up.

Sounds like you got an amazing deal on your tandem!
I've only ridden one once; as I recall, it takes a great deal of trust and faith, to get past that moment where you're convinced you're going to topple over together.

Oh, I wish you were closer I would give you my spare bike (the one that got me cycling in the first place so it does have good karma)in a heartbeat. But I know you will find one that is so cool and so much fun so keep looking. send me you mileage when you are ready and happy to have the company. XO

I'm so intrigued by your tandem bike! I am convinced I could never balance in sync with someone. You'll have to post some pics of you using it - bet it's totally adorable. And fun!

Bicycles are so chic! I would like to think that I would have the guts to decorate mine like these, but somehow I doubt it! Lovely inspiration, though!
