EUREKA!!

I found my bicycle!

(my new old bicycle)

The funny part is where I found it.

Yesterday after finishing my post, "I'm longing for a new bicycle," I was lamenting to my husband about how badly I wanted a bicycle of my own.  He looked at me and said, " but you have a bicycle."

(our vintage Colombia tandem beach cruiser)
I said, "I know, I love the tandem but I would like my own bicycle."
He said, "You do have your own bicycle... remember you bought one at a garage sale late last summer?"
The light bulb went off and the memories came flooding back!  All of a sudden I remembered the day I scored my awesome vintage bicycle at a garage sale on Briggs Avenue for $20!  I ran to the backyard where it had been covered up with a large brown tarp for the winter.  I squealed with delight at the sight of it!  I remembered when I bought it it had several small American flags attached to the front basket from being ridden in the 4th of July Parade.  After hosing it off I jumped on it and took it for a quick spin.  I had forgotten how smooth it rode and how comfy the seat was!  The gears shifted perfectly and quietly.  I was in heaven!  I already had the perfect bicycle, it was just waiting for me to find it...  again.

My husband borrowed our son's vintage Gitane 10 speed

and I borrowed our neighbor's dog, Latte, and we went for a long leisurely bike ride by the bay.

Next weekend we are going to ride the tandem to our local farmer's market.

This morning we drove to the Temescal Farmer's Market in Oakland to buy the best that Spring has to offer as my husband has a wonderful menu in mind for tonight's dinner!

Leeks

Beets

Chard

Zucchini

Fennel
I think he's going to grill some tonight.

Onions

My husband, doing what he loves most, gathering the ingredients for Sunday Dinner.

Carrots

Artichokes

More beets
I think these are also on the menu.

Ranunculus

Baby fennel... a Spring treat!

Carrots & radishes

Rainbow chard

Fresh herbs

Refreshing mint

Mushrooms

Walnuts

FEEL GOOD BAKERY

The Feel Good Bakery is located in Alameda, where we live.  They also sell at The Alameda Pointe every month.  My favorite item is their jalapeno cheese bread stick covered in nuts and seeds.

Although everything they make is delectable,

especially the Chocolate Truffle Cookie w/ Espresso!

COWGIRL CREAMERY

They have the best cheeses and the most incredible burrata which is better than buffalo mozzarella in a caprese salad!

Strawberries with stems

and without.

Apples

Grapefruit

Flowers

Oranges

Dried fruit

Fava beans

Heirloom artichokes

Broccoli

Winter greens

(The line for Blue Bottle Coffee)

BLUE BOTTLE COFFEE

This is the best coffee in the Bay Area!

It's hard to find and there's always a long line!

And a yard sale on the way out...  what more could you ask for!

Last day to enter my Giveaway!
Winner will be announced tomorrow!

I love bike rides at the end of a sunny day, but I've never had a dog the right size to fit in the basket!
Great picture

Hooray! How funny. How did you forget you already had a bike...?
I was looking for a large basket once, to store things in a closet. Went to several stores, bought a few that turned out to be wrong, walked out into my garage and there on a shelf was exactly the size and kind of basket I'd had in mind. It worked perfectly. Now I know to take a better look around the house first. (but I still wouldn't expect to find a whole bicycle I'd completely forgotten about ;) )

I love bike riding! Sounds like you are going to enjoy summer evenings on your new bike. The basket is the best...I have a beach cruiser and a big basket...I love it!

Ah ha! So you did have a bike of your own. Too funny! Can I borrow Latte too? Little Lilly would have stayed in the basket and loved every moment. Either of our other two dogs would either jump out or whine the entire time!

Your photos are amazing! Californians are so lucky, that produce looks too die for, it all does! Too funny you had that bike all along, its too cute, thank goodness your husb remembered! I took all three of my children to buy bikes on Friday, as everyone has outgrown theirs,(my ten year old has gotten so big, I told her we could share one, and she just looked at me really funny, oh well!) I would love to borrow Latte too! :)

Love the tandem bike! I saw one at the Long Beach Flea Market last weekend and I regret not buying it.
I love going to Farmers Markets as well. Beautiful pictures of all that fresh produce.

YUMMY, YUMMY day, from beginning to end and YUMMY post, as well! I love to ride bikes with my hubby, as well....guess we should try and bring Miss Gracie along, too. I'll have to scout out the closest farmer's market to the various bike trails in our area. Kind of like SINGING for your supper, but in this case it's CYCLING for your supper! xx P&H

So it's like a new bike, right?

Thanks for the amazing shots of your Farmer's Market... LOVE LOVE LOVE Cowgirl Creamery cheese. Used to have it all the time in Seattle, but couldn't find it in Charlotte. Finally my local Dean & Deluca started carrying it (I think they got sick of my whining...)

The same old fashioned bell and crusty basket?
What are the chances as well as discovering them on the same day?

Are we in sync or what?

I loved the California produce markets when I visited. Your photos have me think I can pick some via the computer screen.

I still would like Latte, even if it's just a visit. Any chance you can sneak him on Paws airways to me?

When shopping, I sometimes forget that I already own a similar cardican or top, but would I forget a whole bike?... That was a funny story.

What a great farmer's market, my mouth is watering... We have a farmer's market right in the middle of Helsinki six or even seven days a week year around (although more vendors in summer). Have to do a posting in July when there are more delicious looking local products.

Silly Girl and the bicycle! I love riding bikes. You must have a good bike rack! What did the hubby make for dinner? Was that on a Sat. or Sunday?
Miss You.

Terri, that is the best story yet. You had a bike all along. Just like Christmas morning to find it all wrapped in a tarp. Your farmer's Market looks amazing. You have every kind of produce known to man. I live right next to all the farmland and our Farmers market is no where this nice. Great pictures and Chris looks in his element. Thanks for sharing such great picts. Have a great week, sweetie, Kathysue

Hi girlie, what a cute bike story! I can feel the excitement all the way to Seattle! I love my bike too. A sturdy little thing that makes me sit with a straight back as I casually cruise my home town. No cute pup in my basket, though. Maybe I can train our spoiled cat.

And when can we come for dinner!!? (My huz is a great chef too!)

Cyber hug to you my friend.

Only thing is-- you have one, & I still don't. lol. Have a blast riding & enjoying the markets. Your photos made me hungry for every single thing listed here :)~
