good morning my beautiful! GASP! no coffee? how. on. earth? i tried it once and i got the worst headaches....green tea was the only solution... iced green teas from starbucks are my aid on battle the coffee. but i could never win the battle. sigh. yay for you. (ps. wearing another long tube dress today...made me think of you) xoxo
Ashlina- I get those horrendous headaches too. I have to take a couple of Excedrin first thing in the morning for at least a week. I'm only taking one pill now, so it's getting a little better! Thanks for reminding me about the iced green teas at Starbucks, I love those too! Thanks for your support:) Love you!
And what are you planning to replace it with? I don't do coffee and still feel old and tired. Have been thinking I could use more caffeine in my life but I know more exercise would be healthier. Trying to find the time is another story...
We must have one or two vices to make us interesting don't you think? It'd be like me giving up Dr. Pepper with pure cane sugar. It's not going to happen! The golden rule of 'everything in moderation' will always ring true for me, even tequila; especially tequila!
I agree with DT, above! I can't have more than two cups of the real deal or I'm flying around like a bumble bee! Maybe you could switch to decaf or even half caf? It's wonderful that you are trying to improve your health. Read French Women Don't Get Fat (if you haven't) as she believes that everyone needs their little "indulgences," even while on a diet. I have a great friend who has lost over 40 pounds, yet she had one of those extra light beers and ONE little dove chocolate EVERY night -- her indulgences. xx P&H
Oh! Terri, you know what I say about my two cups of coffee in the morning, Coffee is my drug of choice. I am not even coherent until I have had my second cup. Good for you!! More power to ya!! Hugs Kathysue
Um. I don't know what to say. Madness? Insanity? Crazy? WHY?! Oh wait... We're supposed to be supportive of people who give up addictions. But what if it's my addiction too? And I can't give it up? Don't tell me this made you feel better! Please! :) -SF
I can live without coffee easily, mostly drink one cup a day in the office, in the weekend I have coffee only if I go to a café to have a latte or cappucino.
That said, I can understand your craving and my heart goes out to you...
Jen: You are crazy...you need at least a little. Starbucks stock is going way down...better sell. BTW...loved the stuffed dog so much that I had mine stuffed....Love Elizabeth.
Hi there! For me coffee is more of a ritual than an actual need. I love the smell and what it means, like the start of a new day and us latin americans always have merienda/snack at around 2 or three with a cafecito. Good luck!
oh my, i know the feeling... even though i'm not a coffee drinker...but ask me to give up on my earl grey and i'll fade ! mmm..perhaps you should try more tea or even decaffeinated coffee ? In any case, have a great week end ! :-)
You lifted my spirits. It really is so nice to know that their is someone else out there in the same boat. Thanks so much. I can't give up coffee, but I only drink 2 cups in the morning, and then decaf tea later. Sometimes I wake up when it's still dark out and just lay there waiting for it to get light because I want my coffee so badly. Not that I need it - just that it's so enjoyable to drink. Good luck. I'll catch up with you when I get back. Catherine
Thank you for your kind congratulations on our wedding day. If my trips ever take me back to California (and I believe they will), I will surely let you know.
i switched to Decaf. I only allow myself two espresso shots in the morning of caffeine and then i have about 4 decaf ones during the day. if i drink a lot of caffeine my face breaks out so my cutting back is purely a vanity issue! hahahah!!! Those first two weeks are going to be HARD.... some hot tea might feel good to replace the routine, they make lots of yymmy decaf ones too!!!
But why!? I just have one (ok its large) cup of pure 100 proof Peets coffee first thing in the morning. It's like jumping in the pool with water slowly running its fingers through your hair..except its my synapses and dendrites firing and brain function switching to full on. I heard it was good for you. Alors! XO Trish
Sorry, I am reading from most recent and backwards so I am not familiar with the history to this.. Are you on a detox? So am I (and my husband). We are on day 7 and have 7 more to go..
I am a passionate treasure huntress addicted to "the thrill of the hunt." I pride myself on finding unique items and have spent a lifetime collecting unusual and interesting "treasures" which I have used in decorating our home. I shop with an eye for design and look for pieces that I like to call the "jewelry" of the room. Those pieces that have been around accumulating energy thereby bringing life into a space by telling its story or evoking a memory. The allure is found in the details of its journey... condition, provenance and patina. Our collected "treasures" tell the story of who we are. Billy Baldwin said it best, "Decorating is never successful unless it is personal." My treasures are available for purchase in my Etsy Shop and on my companion blog, Shop La Dolfina. The links can be accessed from my sidebar.
"All of life is about energy. It's about the energy that you're putting out; energy that you're drawing to yourself, every day, based on the way you think about your life & the actions that you take. Everybody is an energy field. And because of your attitude, your thinking, your actions; who you choose to be in the world, forms your own field. You are drawing into your field people who are like you... to remind you, to show you, to reflect back to you- who you are. Believe that or not, that is what is happening all the time... and it does not require your belief. It just is. It. Just. Is." -Oprah

Have a wonderful, caffeine-free weekend Terri! It will eventually be a good thing. XO
Thank you Sande! I was beginning to get weak before you left you supportive comment:)
Why would you do that to yourself?
Gave up coffee just like that? In the last year I reached the must have high dose levels.
Rita-
Me too! I reached a threshold where drinking it wasn't even working anymore, especially in the afternoon!
Tracy- Feeling old and tired and totally dependent on the stuff.

Oh honey, i give you so much credit! You're so much stronger than I am. I am addicted to way too many things... caffine being one of them!!
Terri, you're a brave woman. My hat goes off to you! Good luck my darling :) You have the will power to stick to it!...Go girl!
I have one the battle only one time in my life but started up again. It's tough, the more you drink the more you need. It's my one vice. Stay strong!!
