I Did It!

I can't tell you how long I have wanted to create one of these shell type-trays.

(Click on any image to enlarge for close-up detail)

Ever since I first laid eyes on the one in India Hicks home years ago...

I have wanted to create one of my own.

Well, I finally collected enough shells, coral, sea glass, and bits & pieces of nature's art to complete one!  I think it's my very favorite treasure and says more about me than anything else I own.

And I think it is even more fabulous than the one you used as inspiration! You are a clever girl. XO

That is cool Terri. How clever, as it looks like you used drawers of an old desk. Now if you don't mind me saying so, I think an enclosure of some sort is in order in case of an earthquake! Perhaps a piece of really fine silk netting made to look like a fisherman's net or something of that sort that would lightly veil these pieces, so you wouldn't lose the effect nor lose the finer pieces to a shake or two! It could possibly give it even more mystique. I wrote a poem in my early forties and compared my first grey hairs with the beauty of a sea-shell. They all tell a story and are all to be treasured!

Terri, it turned out gorgeous. I love it, Guess what the first thing I started looking for?? The little tiny seahorse from the WE. I found him and now he has a perfect home. So great! Growing up my parents got one of these typography boxes and filled it up with sweet little trinkets from their travels all over the world. They still have it to this day.

Perfection!

I too enjoy collecting shells and crystals,
I made a nice collage box -- using a vintage letterpress typeset box dismantled it when I moved and never put it back together, and my pieces in the collection also got much larger --

I love your creativity and what you did by aligning several together and carefully selecting the best shells,
Really very artfully done, it just maybe a new business you start.

It's very cute. I have always liked those vintage letterpress typeset boxes.

I wish I had more space on my walls, but they are already pretty well coverd with art and vintage signs collected all over the world. Still, it's lovely to see what other people have on their walls.

Therese, you made me giggle out loud! I did not see your post until now and yesterday I was going all nuts about a cubby storage shelf for cups I collect.

But maybe I start collecting shells instead... It looks fabulous, my friend! You have a fantastic eye! Love, love, love it!
