Chinoiserie Lovelies

This week seemed to have a theme...

wherever I went I picked up a small treasure

and when I put them all together

 they seemed to fit

 like a beautiful chinoiserie puzzle.

 Sometimes it works that way

for me.

What about you...

does it seem like all the things you're attracted to

somehow belong together?

Like a vignette just waiting to happen.

I remember Eddie Ross musing about that after one of his flea market jaunts.  As he was putting away his new found treasures into the back of his car he was saying how things just come together naturally.

They find you, and then they find each other!

Hi Terri, the box is so lovely and the lining is incredible. I think this always happens for you because you are so drawn to specific , wonderful and unusual items. I love everything you find, they are all truly treasures. Like I have said before you have the EYE! my dear friend, xoxo Kathysue

Thanks Donna!!
Yes, it is very old, delicate silk in the most amazing color of blue. I bought the pair of vintage handpainted chinoiserie pigskin boxes from an elderly mother and daughter at The Pointe a few months ago promising them they would go to a loving home and not be sold and I'm keeping my word!!

I DON'T BELIEVE IT. Terri!!! This is crazy.... I have the exact same trunk!!! Okay, mine doesn't have the gorgeous lining, and I dont' have the awesome accouterments, but I have the exact same parchment trunk, and it is one of my favourite things!!! I'll have to take a picture and send it to you. ☺ I wish mine looked as lovely inside though.

Lovely finds. I've always thought that the Shalimar perfume bottle was one of the most beautiful ever. Great eye!

Beautiful aqua blue lining, love the fabrics, and nice muted colors on the boxes - The combinations are paired perfectly.
Funny how that works, I am always amazed when it happens to me. Some days I confess not so much -- byt maybe a friend who is with me spots the most unusual finds and I am wondering how I missed it or better yet how to display the collection and use them in an imaginative way.
It is a wonderful that you talent and you have tremondous vision with a flair for displaying these treadures.

There's that gorgeous blue again! I just pulled out a Lotus by Yardley perfume bottle that I've had since I was a teenager that looks much like yours. I have a collection of artifacts from my teens that I keep in Joseph Magnin boxes- the Pierrot Clown series boxes from the 70's that my dad would buy me clothes from in downtown Oakland. I like your gold bottle. Working WES today. I think I'll see if they still have the gold bottles i spied! xx
