I did not do too much decorating this year, although I did add a few touches to our den where I've been spending a lot of time lately, especially since I began my blog.
I love to collect anything that has to do with the sea. I guess if I could describe my style in two words, it would be chinoiserie and coastal.
I found this small brass shell in Castel Gondolfo (the Pope's summer residence) in Italy where I attended my brother's wedding at The Vatican, several years ago. It was truly an amazing experience that I will never forget!
I found these beautiful antique crystal sconces years ago. I was told they came out of the powder room off the ballroom in a grand old Piedmont home.
My Mom found these at our favorite consignment store. I think they are renderings of costumes from a theater production, but I'm not sure. They came in these fabulous mirrored frames.
We upholstered the walls in classic black & white toile and faced the bookshelves with mirror.
My husband just found this pair of wonderful ginger jar lamps at a salvage yard for $18 ea.!
I scored the shades on sale at Pottery Barn for $18 ea. I think we make a pretty good team!
I found some wonderful up lights with dimmers at Home Depot and placed 3 behind the couch .
I just love the ambiance it lends to the room.
We turned the closet into a built in desk and installed recessed lights in the ceiling on a dimmer.
I am a passionate treasure huntress addicted to "the thrill of the hunt." I pride myself on finding unique items and have spent a lifetime collecting unusual and interesting "treasures" which I have used in decorating our home. I shop with an eye for design and look for pieces that I like to call the "jewelry" of the room. Those pieces that have been around accumulating energy thereby bringing life into a space by telling its story or evoking a memory. The allure is found in the details of its journey... condition, provenance and patina. Our collected "treasures" tell the story of who we are. Billy Baldwin said it best, "Decorating is never successful unless it is personal." My treasures are available for purchase in my Etsy Shop and on my companion blog, Shop La Dolfina. The links can be accessed from my sidebar.
"All of life is about energy. It's about the energy that you're putting out; energy that you're drawing to yourself, every day, based on the way you think about your life & the actions that you take. Everybody is an energy field. And because of your attitude, your thinking, your actions; who you choose to be in the world, forms your own field. You are drawing into your field people who are like you... to remind you, to show you, to reflect back to you- who you are. Believe that or not, that is what is happening all the time... and it does not require your belief. It just is. It. Just. Is." -Oprah
Beautifully designed Therese.

Terri, everything you do is SO exquisite. I really think this is one of my favorite rooms in your home. It so reflects your style. And, yes, you and Chris make a pretty good, down right WONDERFUL team! Keep it up, please!
One question...is that a wishbone on the chair??? From one of Chris's fabulous dinners??
It all looks so beautiful. I love the way you have displayed all your lovely pieces. Ax
Your pictures are lovely but I am lucky enough to attest to the fact that it is even lovelier in person. The silver glitter key is a nice touch on the tray.
